Its precision thermometer sits sealed in a 30 ml polypropylene bottle whose base holds a core temperature close to that of the frozen samples, so short fluctuations from defrost or door opening do not distort what you read. The bottle should be charged with monopropylene glycol or a similar heat transfer medium first.
