Set 176-449 combines transmitted and reflected illumination using LED light for MF Series measuring microscopes. It lets you light a workpiece from below or from above with one purchased set. Halogen alternatives are 176-451 for the MF and 176-452 for the MF-U. According to Mitutoyo, an illumination unit has to be selected for the MF to operate. The MF-U LED equivalent is 176-450.
