Product Overview

The Dwyer Series TUF Ultrasonic Energy Meter uses ultrasonic technology to measure heating and cooling energy consumption in clean, compatible liquids. The TUF-1500-BN is the DN150 version, rated for a 150 m³/h permanent flow rate, making it suitable for larger chilled-water and heating-water installations.

By combining a flowmeter, temperature sensors and an energy calculator in one device, the TUF-1500-BN can simplify energy measurement for applications such as chillers, boilers, radiators, fan coil units and individual tenant or apartment piping. This makes it suitable for heat metering, utility sub-metering and tenant-level energy billing.

The ultrasonic measurement principle uses no moving parts, helping reduce mechanical wear and maintenance requirements compared with traditional mechanical BTU meters. An integrated 8-digit LCD provides local access to temperature, flow rate and energy readings directly at the meter.

For building management and billing-system integration, the TUF-1500-BN provides BACnet® MSTP communication. This allows the meter to communicate with compatible building automation systems and utility management infrastructure.

The meter features a plastic housing with brass and 316L stainless steel wetted parts and an IP65 enclosure rating. The DN150 version uses a flange connection and can be installed horizontally or vertically. On horizontal pipe runs, the meter should be positioned at least 45° from horizontal to help prevent debris accumulation.

The unit operates from a 24 Vac/Vdc power supply and can also use an optional user-supplied 3.6V ER26500 lithium battery for backup. The TUF-1500-MD is the corresponding DN150 variant using Modbus RTU instead of BACnet® MSTP.
