Mitutoyo 129-132 Depth Micrometer, Interchangeable Rods 0-6", 4" Base

Part Number : 129-132

Part No. 129-132 | Mitutoyo Series 129

Product Description

The Mitutoyo 129-132 depth micrometer provides accurate depth measurement from 0 to 6" using six interchangeable measuring rods. Its 4" × .63" hardened, ground and micro-lapped base provides a broad reference surface across openings, making it useful for larger housings, castings, flanges and other machined components.

The six interchangeable ø4 mm rods extend the measuring range in 1" steps, allowing one instrument to cover depths throughout the 0–6" range. Each rod has a lapped measuring face, while the measuring-rod clamp secures the selected rod during measurement.

A ratchet stop helps provide consistent measuring force for repeatable readings. With .001" graduation and ±.00012" micrometer head accuracy, the 129-132 is suited to dimensional inspection of holes, slots, steps, recesses and other machined features.

Typical applications include counterbore depths, slot and keyway depths, step heights and shoulder distances. The wide base also provides additional support when measuring across larger openings.

For the same 0–6" range with a more compact 2.5" × .63" base, see the Mitutoyo 129-128. For measurements extending to 12", see the Mitutoyo 129-149 or 129-150.

Key Benefits

Broad measuring range: six interchangeable rods cover 0–6" in 1" increments.

Precise readings: .001" graduation with ±.00012" micrometer head accuracy.

Wide reference base: the 4" × .63" base provides a broad contact surface across larger openings.

Repeatable measuring force: the ratchet stop helps maintain consistent contact pressure.

Secure rod positioning: the measuring-rod clamp holds the selected rod firmly.

Flexible depth measurement: interchangeable rods allow multiple depths to be measured with one instrument.

Who This Product Is Best For

The Mitutoyo 129-132 is suited to machine shops, mould and die makers, quality inspectors and maintenance teams that require depth measurement up to 6" and benefit from a wide reference base.

It is useful for checking machined features between operations, inspecting first-off and production components, measuring counterbores and recessed features, and verifying step heights, slots and shoulder distances.

How to Use

  1. Select the interchangeable rod appropriate for the required depth and secure it using the measuring-rod clamp.

  2. Place the base flat and square across the opening or reference surface.

  3. Turn the micrometer thimble until the measuring rod contacts the bottom of the feature.

  4. Finish the measurement using the ratchet stop to help apply consistent measuring force.

  5. Read the sleeve and thimble and account for the selected rod length to determine the total depth.

  6. For critical inspection work, verify the instrument against a suitable reference standard before measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mitutoyo 129-132 used for?

The 129-132 measures the depth of holes, slots, steps, recesses, counterbores and similar features from 0 to 6" using six interchangeable rods and a 4" × .63" base.

How accurate is the Mitutoyo 129-132?

The micrometer head has an accuracy of ±.00012". The interchangeable rod accuracy is specified as ±(2 + L/75) µm, where L is the maximum measuring length in millimetres.

How do the interchangeable rods work?

The 129-132 uses six ø4 mm interchangeable rods in 1" increments. Select the rod appropriate for the required depth, secure it with the clamp, and use the micrometer head for the final measurement.

What is the difference between the 129-132 and 129-128?

Both models cover 0–6". The 129-132 has a wider 4" × .63" base, while the 129-128 has a compact 2.5" × .63" base. The 129-132 provides a broader reference surface, while the 129-128 is suited to tighter shoulders and smaller openings.

What is the difference between the 129-132 and 129-131?

The 129-132 covers 0–6" with six interchangeable rods. The 129-131 covers 0–4", making it suitable for applications where a shorter measuring range is sufficient.
