Palmer Wahl union connections are similar to thermowells but have an open bottom, so the instrument stem or bulb passes through into the process while the union secures it to the pipe. Each fitting pairs an external thread for the pipe or process connection with an internal thread for the instrument. Standard (1120, 1140, 1150), lagging (1121, 1141, 1151) and cast aluminium flanged (1120-9, 1140-9, 1150-9) series are offered.

- Internal threads: 1/2 in-14 NPT, 1.25 in-18 NEF or 7/8 in-22 NS
